BOKANG KOATJA
FOUNDER
Born in Lesotho and raised in South Africa, Bokang Koatja discovered his love for drawing at a young age, setting the foundation for his future in the arts. He pursued this passion by studying Fine Arts and Digital Animation at Wits University, graduating in 2014. Alongside his work as an animator, Bokang dedicated his free time to completing multiple screenwriting courses, enriching his storytelling abilities.
In 2020, Bokang's talent was recognized when he won a pitch competition, earning him a one-month residency at Ciclic Animation in Vendome, France. Building on this achievement, he furthered his education by graduating with a Master of Arts in Animation and Animated Filmmaking from Gobelins Paris in 2023.
His graduation film, "El Ombligo de La Luna," has received international acclaim, being showcased at multiple film festivals and winning two awards to date. With a lifelong love for animation and a deep-seated passion for storytelling, Bokang Koatja continues to strive towards bringing authentic African stories to the world.
